Balkan-ness in transition: Cliches vs. Varieties in the Yugosphere



Dear Friends and Colleagues,


We kindly invite you to our gathering aimed at discussing the cultural phenomena from the ex-Yugoslavian countries complemented with a Balkan food&drinks exchange buffet and unplugged background music.

We will reflect on the topics of cliches and varieties and the process of transition as manifested in the contemporary political, social and cultural spheres.

PROGRAM

- "Cultureshutdown.net" - by Azra Aksamija, MIT Boston and Jasmin Mujanovic, Columbia University New York (Online lecture)

- "Culture and projects in the Bosnian context" - by Milenko Lazic, Ambar foundation

- "The unemployed man" - movie by Zelimir Zilnik, screening commented by Dubravka Sekulic, ETH Zurich


The event will be complemented by a Balkan food&drinks exchange buffet. Everyone is invited (but not obliged!) to bring their favourite food and/or drink from the Balkans.

We will enjoy it with unplugged background music.
